Afghanistan: Female police officer shot dead in Kandahar

Kabul/Kandahar: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a woman police officer in Afghanistan's Kandahar province, media reports said on Sunday.

Kandahar police spokesman Jamal Nasir Barekzai told Khaama Press that unidentified gunmen have killed a female police officer working in the provincial prison.

He said the incident took place at around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday morning in Police District 9 of Kandahar city.

Police have started searching for the people involved in the crime.

They escaped from the scene after reportedly murdering the woman.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
