Afghanistan : 14 militants killed in clashes

Kabul, May 6 (Xinhua/UNI) At least 14 Taliban militants have been killed and nine others injured in clashes in two Afghan provinces, authorities said on Monday.

In southern Kandahar province, seven Taliban militants were killed and nine others wounded after Afghan security forces repelled a Taliban attack on military posts in Khakrez district overnight, army Corps 205 Attal said in a statement.

There were no casualties on the side of security forces, the statement added.
In addition, seven Taliban militants were killed and two others arrested after Afghan army launched an operation in Sayyed Abad district of eastern Wardak province, Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps (ANASOC) confirmed in a statement.

The Afghan security forces have beefed up security operations against militants recently as spring and summer known as the fighting season is drawing near in the country.

The Taliban militant group has not made a comment on the reports yet.
