Five flights to Andamans cancelled due to cyclone

Chennai/UNI: Five flights bound for Andamans from Chennai airport has been cancelled in view of poor passenger patronage following cyclone threat. 

Airport sources said the cyclonic storm is expected to hit the islands Monday.

All tourist spots in Andamans have been closed till Tuesday and the tourists have been advised to postpone their visits.

As several passengers have cancelled their bookings due to the cyclone, the airport authorities on Sunday announced cancellation of five flights to Port Blair.

The Andaman bound flights scheduled to leave Chennai airport at 0435 hrs, 0710 hrs, 0830 hrs, 0845 hrs and 1045 hrs, have been cancelled due to poor passenger patronage.

A few others, who had booked their tickets were accommodated in four other flights that left for Port Blair.
