Entry fees to ASI monuments hiked from April 1
New Delhi, Apr 1 (IBNS) The Union Ministry of Culture announced on Friday that it has been decided to enhance the entry fee for the 116 centrally protected and ticketed monuments under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), effective April 1, 2016.
The entry fee for World Heritage Monuments under the ASI has been raised to Rs 30 per head for Indian citizens, and visitors from SAARC, visitors from BIMSTEC countries and overseas citizens of India and to Rs 250 for others.
The entry fee for Other Monuments under the ASI has been raised to Rs 15 and Rs 200, respectively
According to the ministry, the entry fees have been raised after a period of more than 15 years; the last increase took place in 2000.
The ministry has also said that it aims to provide better facilities to tourists coming to ASI monuments.
Accordingly, visitors purchasing high-value tickets -- Rs 750 and Rs 300 at World Heritage monuments and Other Ticketed monuments, respectively -- will be offered free bottled water, wi-fi connectivity, mementoes and CDs with pictures and films of monuments.
Further, separate queues would be provided for ticket holders of Rs 750, Rs 500, Rs 300 and Rs.200 for ensuring smooth entry to the monument, informed the ministry.
