Kolkata/IBNS: Actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty, who is nursing a painful injury in hand, on Wednesday (Sept 11) joined a protest rally in north Kolkata, demanding justice for the gruesome rape and murder of a junior doctor in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital last month. “This is a mass movement we are witnessing after many, many years,” he told reporters.(Images by Avishek Mitra/IBNS)
Kolkata stages second-night vigil seeking justice in RG Kar rape-murder case

In a rare show of citizens' solidarity, Kolkata is observing its second-night vigil by turning off lights and coming out on streets with candles in their hands in demand of justice for the 31-year-old junior doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital even though there is a strong disappointment among protesters over the cancellation of the Supreme Court hearing on September 5.
