Sandeshkhali row: Calcutta HC cancels prohibitory order, opposition intensifies movement

Kolkata/IBNS/UNI: The oppositions-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), CPI(M) and Congress-on Tuesday intensified their movement separately on the Sandeshkhali issue in Bengal where the women were allegedly being tortured by some TMC local leaders, even as Calcutta High Court set aside the prohibitory order imposed by the state administration under section 144 Cr PC at the troubled-torn area in North 24 Parganas, official sources said.

Kolkata/UNI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday began raids at TMC leader Sahjahan Sheikh's house at Sarberia,Sandeshkhali in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, aided by a company of armed central forces, in connection with alleged PDS scam.

Kolkata/UNI: West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has expressed concern as to why TMC leader Sahjahan Sheikh was not arrested in the past three days and sought a report from the Mamata Banerjee government regarding his whereabouts and action taken status on the issue, official sources said on Monday.
