Chennai/IBNS: Cyclone Nivar has started the process of landfall between Puducherry and Tamil Nadu's Marakkanam, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said late on Wednesday.

Chennai/UNI: Heavy rains lashed Chennai city and suburbs, as the cyclonic storm 'Nivar' lying over the southwest Bay of Bengal moved westwards with a speed of five kmph during the past six hours and lay centred over southwest Bay of Bengal about 380 km eastsoutheast of Puducherry and 430 km south-southeast of Chennai.
