Rs 12.4 lakh crore of banned currency notes deposited in banks till Dec 10, says RBI

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IBNS): The Reserve Bank of India has said that banks have received Rs. 12.44 lakh crore in old Rs 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes as of Dec 10, since the ban was announced by the Centre on Nov 8.

New Delhi, Nov 8 (IBNS): In a bid to fight against corruption, black money, money laundering, terrorism and financing of terrorists as well as counterfeit notes, the Government of India has decided that the five hundred and one thousand rupee notes will no longer be legal tender from midnight tonight.
