Yogeshwar Dutt's London bronze might be upgraded to silver?

| | Aug 30, 2016, at 03:16 pm
New Delhi, Aug 30 (IBNS): Giving some good news to Indian wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, the bronze medal, which he had won in the London Olympics 2012, might be upgraded to silver after the runner-up in the event Besik Kudukhov of Russia was found guilty of doping violation, media reports said.

As per the Russian agency, flowrestling.org, "Artur Taymazov of Uzbekistan will have his 2008 gold medal stripped, while the late Besik Kudukhov of Russia will lose his silver medal from the London Games."

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) had recently retested samples of 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics.

Several positive results were found.

This might upgrade Dutt's bronze medal to silver.

In such a case, he will join another Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar as the second silver medal winner in the 20102 Games.

However, the matter has not been confirmed officially  so far by the United World Wrestling (UWW) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Dutt could not bring home any medal in the Rio Olympics this year.
