Launched in 2024, the Xaverian Soccer League (XSL) has gained recognition as one of the most youth-driven football tournaments associated with an academic institution. Designed as a 5-a-side tournament with an intergenerational team format, XSL is known for its innovative structure.

Each team is carefully curated to bring together a balance of energy, skill, and experience featuring a marquee player, a guest player, three current students, and three alumni. This thoughtful composition goes beyond competition, creating an environment that emphasizes mentorship, learning, and sportsmanship.

“XSL reflects our commitment to holistic development by blending academics with sports and camaraderie. It’s heartening to see students, alumni, and sports personalities come together in this celebration. Wishing the Alumni Association all the best for a successful Season 2,” said Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata President, SXCCAA.

The core vision of XSL is to promote football among the youth while simultaneously strengthening the bond between former and present students of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.

The league creates opportunities for young footballers to engage directly with elite-level players, helping them to accelerate their growth and broaden their exposure. More than just a tournament, XSL serves as a platform to nurture promising players, encourage cross-generational dialogue, and build a strong sense of community within the Xaverian ecosystem.

“We want to play well, seize the trophy, and at the same time promote Xaverian Football. Being a Xaverian is a pride in itself, and I believe this initiative will promote the grass-root level as well as the higher level of football,” said Mehtab Hossain, Marquee Player, Credo Accelerate.
