World T20: India edge past Bangladesh by 1 run to win a thriller

Needing 11 runs of the final over, Bangladesh lost 3 wickets in a row to concede the match to the home side.

Hitting two boundaries off consecutive deliveries and needing just two runs to win the match, Mushfiqur Rahim went for a big swing to end the match, only to scoop one for Shikhar Dhawan in long on for a simple catch.

Mahmudullah Riyad (18), the in-form man for Bangladesh, followed suit a ball later as he too scooped a low full-toss for Ravindra Jadeja to complete a good catch in the same area.

Earlier, Bangladesh got off to a modest start, losing an early wicket in the second over.

Mithun Ali (1) tried taking advantage of Ashwin, but a stunning catch from Pandya in long on brought his end.

Ashwin bowled a immaculate length and picked up 2 wickets. He was also adjudged the man of the match.

Bangladesh was right in the hunt from the very start, until the last 3 balls, where India turned it for them.

The other Indian spinner, Jadeja too picked up 2 wickets, while Pandya ended with a brace.

Part timer Raina and pacer Ashish Nehra chipped in with a wicket each.

The Indian fielders were a bit sloppy in the field, dropping 2 catches in crucial junctures.

For Bangladesh, Tamim Iqbal played some free flowing shots to score 35 runs. Other contributors were Shabbir Rahman (26), Shakib (22) and Soumya Sarkar (21).

Playing an important encounter, the Indian batsmen put up 146 runs for the loss of 7 wickets against Bangladesh after being asked to bat first.

The Indian openers found it tough to score runs in a Bangalore pitch which was surprisingly slow and It wasn't until the 6th over that Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan scored more than 10 runs in an over. However, Sharma (18) perished at the last ball of the powerplay as he tried smashing Mustafizur out of the park, having hit him for a six in the over already.

Dhawan followed his partner in the ensuing over as indecisiveness against Shakib cost him his wicket. His innings of 23 runs was cut short as he was trapped in front.

Virat Kohli, who is in sublime form, having hit a half century against arch rivals Pakistan in the earlier game, too found it difficult, hitting just the one six in his innings of 24.

A little cameo from Hardik Pandya (15 off 7) was cut short by a brilliant diving catch from Soumya Sarkar, as he cried to pull one from Al Amin to the mid wicket boundary. Al Amin was on a hat trick, having picked up Suresh Raina in the ball earlier.

Raina hit 2 sixes and a boundary in his 23-ball knock.

Yuvraj Singh, who walked in at number seven, scored just the 3 runs and conceded his wicket to Mahmudullah Riyad.

Ravindra Jadeja (12) was sent back to the hut by Mustafizur in the first ball of the last over. 

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (13) and Ravichandra Ashwin (5) remained unbeaten.

For Bangladesh, Al Amin and Mustafizur picked up 2 wickets, followed by one each by Shakib, Suvagata and Mahmudullah.
