West Indies beat Australia to win ICC World T20 title
After restricting Australia at 148 for the loss of five wickets, West Indies women reached 149 runs by losing two wickets with three balls to spare.
Hayley Matthews (66) and skipper Stafanie Taylor (59) gave West Indies a strong foundation as the duo added 120 runs in the first wicket partnership.
Matthews hit six boundaries and three sixes in her knock.
She was dominant in her 45-ball innings where she hit all the Australian bowlers out of the park.
After the two departed, Deandra Dottin (18*) and Britney Cooper (3*) did not let the chance go out of hand and reached the target quite easily.
Australian bowlers struggled to give West Indies any challenge as the openers tackled them brilliantly.
Kristen Beams and Rene Farrell picked up a wicket each for Australia but they were too late to pull their side out from the crisis.
Elyse Villani and Meg Lanning hit 52 each to help Australia post 148 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs earlier.
Deandra Dottin picked up two wickets for West Indies.
