WC: Pakistan beat UAE to keep Q/F hope alive

Napier, Mar 4 (IBNS): Keeping their hopes to book a set in the quater-finals alive, Pakistan defeated the UAE by 129 runs in a World Cup group stage match here on Wednesday.

After posting 339 runs for the loss of six wickets, Pakistan bowlers restricted the opponent for 210 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

Ahmed Shehzad remained the top scorer for Pakistan with his 93. He smashed eight boundaries and six in his knock.

Haris Sohail (70), Sohaib Maqsood (45) and Misbah-ul-Haq (65) all contributed with their willows in the match.

Manjula Guruge shined his bowling and  took four wickets by giving away 56 runs for the UAE.

In reply, Shaiman Anwar top scored with his 62 but it was not enough for the side to reach the target.

Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz and Shahid Afridi took two wickets for Pakistan.
