VIVO Indian Premier League 2016 schedule announced

Mumbai, Mar 10 (IBNS) Mumbai Indians (MI), the Indian Premier League 2015 winners, will commence their defence of the title, on home turf, on Apr 9.

The opening encounter of the VIVO IPL 2016 will see them play Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS), the new entrants in the league, at the historic Wankhede Stadium.

A total of 60 matches (including the 4 playoffs) will be played over a period of 51 days, in the ninth season of the tournament that has captured the imagination of cricket lovers across the world.

The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium at Raipur will play host to two home games of Delhi Daredevils, whilst the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium at Nagpur will host three home games of Kings XI Punjab.

The VIVO IPL 2016 Final will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 29, 2016.

“All the top players from around the world will be seen in action this year at the VIVO IPL 2016. This season the IPL will be played at 10 venues – Mohali, Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot and Raipur. I am excited to join the fans to see a lot of exciting cricket over the next three months,” Rajeev Shukla, Chairman - IPL, said.
