US Open: Karolina Pliskova beats Serena Williams to reach final

New York, Sept 9 (IBNS): In a stunning encounter, US Tennis star Serena Williams was defeated by Czech 10th seed Karolina Pliskova in the semi-finals of the US Open women's singles event.

Outplaying Serena, Karolina Pliskova defeated her opponent 6-2 7-6 (7-5).

She will meet German second seed Angelique Kerber in the final of the tournament.

In the other semi-finals encounter, Kerber beat Denmark's Carolina Wozniacki 6-4 6-3 to reach the final.
