London, Oct 23 (IBNS) Warwickshire on Thursday announced its batsman Jonathan Trott has committed himself to the Bears until at least the end of the 2017 season after signing a new three-year contract extension at Edgbaston.

Dougie Brown, Director of Cricket at Warwickshire CCC, was quoted as saying in the club's website,  “Jonathan played some of the best cricket of his career in the second half of last season and he showed that he remains one of the leading batsmen in the English game."

“It’s been great to see him enjoying his cricket and make such a big contribution to the team’s strong finish to the season. He loves Warwickshire and playing cricket at Edgbaston, and everyone connected with the Club is thrilled to see him commit long-term," he said.

Jonathan has scored 14,681 First Class, 8,830 List A and 2,122 T20 runs in his career to date and has won 49 Test, 68 ODI and seven IT20 caps for England since making his international debut in the deciding Ashes Test at The Oval in 2009, where his 119 in the second innings helped England to a historic 2-1 series win.

Jonathan said: “Warwickshire CCC is a very special club for me and my family and I would like to thank everyone associated with the club for their support. It has always been a great honour to represent the Bears and I am delighted to commit to the club once again for a further three years.

“Hopefully we can build on the success of this year by achieving greater success in the years to come," the cricketer said.
