Tri-series: England thrash India by 9 wickets
After bowling out India for 153, England just lost the wicket of Moeen Ali(8) as they cruised to the target of 156 runs with 135 balls to spare.
Experienced Iam Bell (88*) and James Taylor (56*) added 131 runs in the second wicket partnership as they reached the target without facing much troubles from the Indian bowlers as they registered the first win in the tri-series which also features Australia.
Stuart Binny was the only successful bowler for India as he picked up the wicket of Ali.
The rest failed to trouble the English batsmen as they could not exploit the pacer-friendly wicket.
Bell played a crucial knock of unbeaten 88 runs where he smashed eight boundaries while Taylor hit four boundaries in his knock.
India suffered their second consecutive defeat in the series after they lost to Australia in their first clash on Sunday.
Earlier, choosing to bat first after winning the toss, Indian team were bundled out for 153 in 39.3 overs.
The top-order collapsed with the top five batsmen- Shikhar Dhawan (1),
Ajinkya Rahane (33), Virat Kohli (4) Suresh Raina (1) and Ambati Rayudu (23), - returning to the crease with just 67 runs on the scoreboard.
It was a 70 runs sixth wicket partnership between MS Dhoni (34) and Stuart Binny (44) that helped India cross the 100-run mark.
After Dhoni departed, it was only a matter of time as the entire Indian team were all out at 153.
Steven Finn (5/33) and his pace colleague James Anderson (4/18) took advantage of the pacer-friendly wicket and destroyed the Indian batting line-up.
The Indian team, who will be starting their World Cup campaign in the same country from next month, looked uncomfortable in the wicket which supported pace and bounce.
After Tuesday's clash, Australia top the points chart nine points while England stood in the second position with five points after 2 matches.
India have not won a single match so far.
"We lose wickets when we accelerate. The batsmen are finding it tough here. We need to rotate the strike when the bowling is good but we haven't done that. It's a long tour, so we need to switch on and off. Time in the hotel is important too," Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said.
