Tokyo Paralympics: Vinod Kumar clinches bronze medal in discus throw

Tokyo: Indian discus thrower Vinod Kumar made the country proud by clinching a bronze medal in the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics here on Sunday.

Kumar won the medal by registering a throw of 19.91m in the Men's Discus Throw F52 final.

This is the third medal India bagged in the major sporting event on Sunday.

SAI Media tweeted: "He performed brilliantly well and the whole nation is proud of his achievement."

Earlier in the day, paddler Bhavinaben Patel and high jumper Nishad Kumar won silver medals earlier in the day.

Indian PM Narendra Modi wished Vinod and tweeted: "India is rejoicing thanks to Vinod Kumar’s stupendous performance! Congratulations to him for the Bronze Medal. His hard work and determination is yielding outstanding results. #Paralympics."
