Tirthapati, Ballygunge Siksha Sadan shine as gold rush continues at Inter-School Rowing Championship

Kolkata/IBNS: True to the expectation, Tirthapati Institution “A” along with P M Shri Academy from Jamshedpur and Ballygunge Siksha Sadan held the centre stage winning a gold each on the penultimate day of the All India Invitation Inter School Rowing Championship being organised by Lake Club at its course in Rabindra Sarobar here Friday.

In the finals, Tirthapati “A” represented by Roudra Kiran Das and Anubhav Karmakar defeated compatriots Tirthapati “B” to make a 1-2 podium finish in junior boys double scull while in the senior boys double scull Pradip Kumat Mahato and Sukhlal Tudu of P M Shri Academy from Jamshedpur got the better of  Khalsa High School”A” at the senior boys double scull easily.

Ballygunge Siksha Sadan quartet- comprising Dhriti Chowdhury, Trina Samanta, Saanvi Chatterjee and Agnimitra Basu- displayed fine stamina to out row their rivals from Patha Bhavan in the title clash for the junior girls fours.

Bronze medals were bagged by Modern High (senior girls double scull), Patha Bhavan “B” (junior boys fours), New Horizon High School (junior boys double scull), J H Tarapore High School from Jamshedpur (Junior girls fours) and South Point “A” (senior boys double scull) after winning their respective play off races for the third position.

Finals of the other events and prize distribution will be held on Saturday.
