Third T20 between India-South Africa abandoned due to rain, visitors clinch series

Kolkata, Oct 8 (IBNS): The third T20 match between India and South Africa was abandoned in Kolkata's Eden Gardens due to wet outfield on Thursday.

A single ball was not bowled in the match.

Umpires called off the match following their 9.30 inspection.

Large number of crowd had gathered for the match in the iconic stadium, whose poor drainage system was reflected on Thursday evening, as they were left disappointed with the clash being cancelled.

A passing shower in the city left the outfield in poor condition and prevented the match from being hosted in the showpiece stadium. The series had already been decided in favour of South Africa at 2-0.

South Africa won the series.
