Dehradun, Jan 7 (IBNS): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat unveiled details of the two-day pro-wrestling fight spectacle to be held exclusively in Uttarakhand in February 2016.

Promoted by The Great Khali’s ‘Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE)’ Academy the fights which have been initiated and coordinated by CM Harish Rawat’s #CM4Youth outreach programme, and Sports & Brand management specialist firm Integrated Brand Solutions (IBS) will be titled ‘CWE – The Great Khali Returns’ series.

Further to be held on Feb 24 and Feb 28, the ‘CWE – The Great Khali Returns’ series would be held at Uttarakhand’s brand new stadiums in Haldwani and Dehradun and would witness a live audience of atleast 15,000 fans in each stadium. Additionally, the event that would be telecast would also be beamed to people across the state through large LED screens being set up in every district of the state.

Commenting on the initiative,  Harish Rawat said, “Pro-wrestling is very popular with the Uttarakhandi youth and Khali’s own story of his rise from being a very ordinary worker from the hills to rising to being amongst the world’s greatest pro-wrestlers ever through single minded focus, hard work and absolute dedication is nothing short of inspirational. I am very confident that this initiative of Khali will not just go a long way in creating additional excitement and awareness about the sport amongst our youth but also offers them a brilliant platform to get recognized and chart their own success story in the world of pro-wrestling.”

“That apart, on the personal front, as I have said before like all of you’ll both my grand-daughter and I are huge Khali fans and are very excited about The Great Khali mania hitting Uttarakhand this February. Am confident its going to be a world-class spectacle, something never witnessed before in our state,” added Rawat.

The announcement regarding the initiative and details were unveiled at a special themed media and industry event at the Chief Ministers Residence in Dehradun, presided over by Ranjit Rawat and Haripal Rawat both conveners of #CM4Youth, Amardeep Singh the CEO of IBS and leading sporting luminary Padamsree Jaspal Rana, in addition to Harish Rawat and The Great Khali himself.

At the announcement event, The Great Khali offered his support to the CM4Youth initiative.

Commenting on the occasion, The Great Khali said: “My journey has not at all been a simple one to say the least. There were many ups and downs, trials and tribulations and more importantly practically no one to guide me. I was pretty sure right from the beginning that I would return to my country and help create the right platform and facilities for my fellow Indians to also make it big in this sport. I am very grateful that Shri Harish Rawat has accorded me this brilliant platform to help take my dream and mission forward.”

“There is just one more thing, I would like to take this opportunity to invite all my detractors, that The Great Khali is back and if anybody has even the slightest doubt about this, they can come and meet me in the ring, this February in Uttarakhand. Its an open challenge,” added the Great Khali.
