Mumbai, Oct 5 (IBNS): With a broom in his hand instead of a cricket bat, Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday cleaned a road in Mumbai as a part of the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, Sachin said: "As I have been entrusted the  leadership role of 'Swachh Bharat' campaign by Shri Narendra Modi. Hence, I am here with my team to clean this area."

"We should try to keep India as much clean as possible. This process of cleaning the city might take a year but we should unitedly try to clean our country," he said.

Tendulkar on Thursday accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to join the 'SwachhBharat Mission'.

"I humbly accept the challenge," Tendulkar tweeted.

As a part of his Swachh Bharat Mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday invited nine eminent personalities to join his drive.
