SunRisers Hyderabad score 174 for 7 in their innings against KKR

Kolkata, May 25 (IBNS):  A 56-run partnership by peners Wriddhiman Saha ( 35) and Shikhar Dhawan (34) and a fine rearguard action by tailender Rashid Khan ( unbeaten 34 off 10 balls) guided  SunRisers Hyderabad to  a  respectable total of 174 for 7 wickets in their stipulated 20 overs in the second qualifier against  Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens here on Friday night.

Hyderbad  team’s   total would have been shorter but for two chances missed by the hosts in the 3rd and 4th over when Sikhar Dhawan was dropped by  Keeper Dinesh Karthik and Nitish Rana respectively..

Dhawan  failed to make full use of the lives he got in the 3rd and fourth over  off Shivam Mahi and Prasidh Krishna at his 9 and 14, as he made his exit after scoring 34 off 24 deliveries which included four bounderies and a sixer off Kuldip Yadav in the 7.5th  over with the team's total reading 56.

Inspired with the early success , Kuldeep  struck another blow in the same over, this time claiming skipper Kane Willimson who fell to his guile after scoring only 3. Kane failed to read Kuldeep correctly and edged it to keeper Karthik.

The exit of  Williamson brought Shakib Al Hasan joined opener Wriddhiman Saha  in the crease  and both of them batted  judiciously and  looked set for a  big partnership.

But that was not to be as  Saha fell to the guile of  spinner Piyush Chawla. Saha, who was promoted to the batting line up and opened the innings for the Hyderabad team and was holding on to one side, missed the line of the ball completely and alert  Karthik took off his bell in a flash.

Saha made 35 from 27 deliveries and delighted a packed stadium with five hitting to the fence.

Sunrisers’ hope of reaching  a reasonabley good total would have been dashoff but for unbeaten 34 off only  only ten deliveries  by  Rashid Khan from Afghanistan , known for their fighting quality.

Coming to bat after the fall of  Karlos Brathwaite,  Rashid waged a lone battle towards the end to take the score to a fighting tota. In his ten-ball blitzkrieg Rashid hit four mighty over bounderies and two fours remaining unbeaten.

Earlier  SRH lost  four quick wickets  , those of  Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh,  within 25 runs.

For KKR  young Kuldeep yadav proved to be most successful claiming a couple of wickets while Sunil Naraine, Piyush Chawla and Mavi bagged a wicket and two other SRH batsmen became victims of run out.
