Samara, June 17 (IBNS): Serbia fired a goal to manage a 1-0 win over Costa Rica in a World Cup clash on Sunday.

It was  Aleksandar Kolarov, who hit a magnificent free-kick, to ensure a vixtory in their World Cup clash.

The Costa Rica wall was shattered from defending as  Serbia captain Kolarov - the former Manchester City defender - scooped one strong free-kick that provided spectators some moments to cheer.

Costa Rica's efforts to give some amount of threat to the opponents were sporadic.

Serbia clinched vital three points with the victory.

The group E also features Brazil and Switzerland.

The defeat left Costa Rica in a tough position.
