Second Test: Sri Lanka trail by 253 runs in the first innings after dismissing India for 393 on day two

Colombo, Aug 21 (IBNS) Sri Lanka managed 140 for the loss of 3 wickets after bowling out India for 393 in their first innings of the second Test here on Friday.

India added another 74 runs to their overnight score before the Lankans bowlers picked up the remaining four wickets.

Ravi Ashwin was the first to depart in the morning session. The offie score two, getting dismissed by Mathews.

Wriddhiman Saha played a composed hand and posted his second international fifty as the Bengal boy scored 56 off 117 deliveries. His knock was laden with 6 hits to the fence.

Amit Mishra played a quick hand. The burly spinner played 50 balls for his 24 and hit 3 boundaries.

Saha and Mishra added 46 runs for the eighth wicket partnership.

Veteran Sinhalese spinner, Rangana Herath proved crucial once again as the southpaw picked up 4 wickets for 81 runs in his 25 overs. Mathews, Chameera and Prasad picked up 2 each.

Starting their innings, the hosts lost a wicket early as Umesh Yaadav trapped Dimuth Karunaratne in front for 1.

Kaushal Silva and veteran Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara batted sensibly to build their innings steadily.

Karunaratne (51) departed soon after scoring his half century. The opener played 118 balls and hit 8 fours.

The soon to retire Lankan legend Sangakkara departed for 32, falling prey to an Ashwin delivery. Though the Indians celebrated his wicket, Kohli and Co. applauded for him as he left the field.

Lahiru Thirimanne (28) and Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews (19) are at the crease.

Amit Mishra, Ravi Ashwin and Umesh Yaadav picked up a wicket each.
