SA beat Ireland by 201 runs

Canberra, Mar 3 (IBNS): Riding on Hashim Amla (159) and Faf du Plessis (109), South Africa beat Ireland by 201 runs in a World Group stage match here on Tuesday.

After posting massive 411 runs on the scorecard, the South African bowlers bowled out Ireland for 210 runs.

Andrew Balbirnie's 58 could not prevent a huge defeat at the hands of the former World semi-finalists with the European side once collapsing  to 48-5 in 11 overs.

Kevin O'Brien and   Balbirnie delayed the loss for some time.

South Africa's Kyle Abbott (4-21) and Morne Morkel (3-34) destroyed the Irish batting line up.

With two more matches left, South Africa need to win one more clash to reach the quater-finals.

Despite loss against India, South Africa had posted another big win as they had defeated  257 runs against West Indies.

South Africa's Amla and Faf du Plessis   had added 247 runs in the second wicket partnership which helped them post the massive total on the scorecard.

Hitting 61 off 30 deliveries, Rilee Rossouw made a significant contribution at the end of the innings.

After the match,  AB de Villiers said, "Very happy with the performance."
