Birmingham, July 2 (IBNS): Bangladesh batsmen ignited hopes but it was Indian bowlers who managed to win another tight match for India by 28 runs in a crucial group stage match of the World Cup and helped the Men In Blue to reach the semi-finals of the elite tournament.

After posting 314 runs for the loss of nine wickets, Indian bowlers did it right as they kept it tight to end the Bangladeshi innings at 286 runs.

Shakib-Al-Hasan, Bangladesh cricket's poster boy, looked dangerous as he added 66 runs with his willow that put the Indian bowlers under pressure.

India, however, bounced back in the match after Hardik Pandya, who took three wickets in the game, picked up Shakib's crucial wicket.

Things once against inched towards Bangladesh's favour when  Mohammad Saifuddin (51*) and Sabbir Rahman (36) added 66 runs partnership after six wickets fall down to give the neighbours slight edge over India.

It was Bumrah, who did the trick for India, as he picked up the wicket of Rahman to break the partnership.

Despite some lusty blows by Saifuddun at the end, India's pace superstar Bumrah took two back to back wickets of Rubel Hossain (9) and Mustafizur Rahman (0) to end Bangladesh's innings at 286 runs.

Bangladesh's hope of reaching the final four stage of the tournament ended with this defeat.

Rohit Sharma was named Man of the Match for his memorable knock of 104 runs that included seven boundaries and five sixes.

KL Rahul (77) and Rishabh Pant (48) added some crucial runs with their willows.

Mustafizur Rahman picked up five wickets for Bangladesh.
