Ahmedabad/IBNS: The revamped Motera Stadium, which was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday, has been renamed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and Indian cricket board secretary Jay Shah.

The Narendra Modi Stadium, which is the largest cricket stadium in the world with a capacity of 1,10,000, will host its first international match on Wednesday.

India will take on England in the second Test match, which will be played in pink balls, in the stadium.

The match will be played under the lights.

"Coupled with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave and Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, a sports complex will also be built in Naranpura. These three will be equipped to host any international sports event," Shah said at the event.
