Pakistani cricketing world mourns Lata Mangeshkar's demise

Islamabad: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman  Ramiz Raja on Sunday mourned the death of Indian singing legend Lata Mangeshkar and said  was the epitome of grace, humility and simplicity.

" Lata Mangeshkar was the epitome of grace, humility and simplicity and therefore greatness.. a lesson for all. Kishore Kumar and now her death has left me music broken!" he tweeted.

Former Pakistani captain Waqar Younis said: "Deeply saddened by the news of @mangeshkarlata Ji’s passing away. There will never be another“LATA” #RIP #LEGEND."

Pakistani captain Babar Azam remarked: "End of a golden era. Her magical voice and legacy will continue to live in the hearts of millions worldwide. An unparalleled icon! RIP Smt. Lata Mangeshkar Ji."

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday morning leaving the entire country mourning. She was 92.

The veteran singer was being treated for Covid-19 and pneumonia symptoms for over a month.

The singer, referred to as the Nightingale of India, was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital in January with Covid-19 and pneumonia.

Her symptoms were mild but she was kept in ICU due to her age. Over the weeks, Mangeshkar showed signs of improvement but on Saturday, she was put back on the ventilator after her health deteriorated.

Joining the nation in mourning her demise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the singing legend leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled.
