New Delhi, Apr 27 (IBNS): Hopes of Indian sports lovers to witness country's senior Tennis stars -Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes- uniting for the Rio Olympics dashed as the All-India Tennis Association (AITA) confirmed that no country can get a wild card entry for the major sporting event, media reports said on Wednesday.

Speculations were gaining ground recently that  Leander and Mahesh were vying for a wild card and come together for another time to represent the nation in the doubles event of the Olympics.

Anil Khanna, President of the Asian Tennis federation and Vice President of the International tennis federation said no wild card is available for the Tennis event.

"Let me make it clear to you that there are no wild cards available this year. No national federation can apply for one. They have sent a letter to all countries on April 6," Khanna told India Today.

Both the stars have competed together in four Olympics between 1996 and 2008. They have not won a medal.
