New Delhi, Jan 2 (IBNS): Union Government on Saturday said has decided to organise National School Games in a big way at four to five venues in the country every year.

"The objective is to ensure proper promotion and development of various games at the school level with the twin objectives of early identification of talent and ensuring physical fitness of children," read the government statement.

For the purpose of efficient organisation of the National School Games, the Department of Sports is joining hands with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) for conduct of the games and with the selected state governments for infrastructure.

It is expected that participation of large number of children in the proposed National School Games from various parts of the country will not only contribute to the objective of sports promotion but also national unity and harmony.

"A beginning in this regard is being made by supporting these games in the state of Kerala- where they are proposed to be held in Jan 2016. A request received in this regard from Govt of Kerala to be host of these games has been accepted," read the statement.
