Najam Sethi resigns as Pakistan Cricket Board chief

Islamabad, Aug  21 (IBNS):  Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has resigned from his position, media reports said on Tuesday.

 

He resigned from his position on Monday.

Posting the resignation letter which Sethi submitted, Pakistan Cricket Board tweeted: "Chairman PCB @najamsethi submits his resignation to Prime Minister, Imran Khan."

Sethi said he was waiting to submit his resignation till new Pakistan Prime Minister took charge of the position.

Imran Khan, the newly elected Pakistan PM, took oath last week.

"I was waiting for the new Prime Minister to take oath before submitting my resignation as PCB Chairman, which I have done today. I wish PCB all the best and hope our cricket team goes from strength to strength. Eid Mubarak. Pakistan Zindabad," Sethi tweeted.

It was during Sethi's regime that international cricket returned to Pakistan.

Zimbabwe, West Indies Sri Lanka, and World XI  visited Pakistan and played series against the home side.
