New Delhi/IBNS: Bangladesh created a major upset in air-pollution hit New Delhi as the neighbours defeated India by seven wickets in the first T20 match of the series on Sunday.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first and made India score 148 runs for the loss of six wickets in their quota of 20 overs.

Bangladesh then went ahead and won the match by scoring 154 runs for the loss of seven wickets with three balls to spare.

India played under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma (9) in the match who went back to the pavilion fast. Shikhar Dhawan (41) and Rishabh Pant (27) made some fast contributions to help India post a nearly 150-run scores.

However, it remained insufficient to defend against a spirited Bangladesh side who are also playing without Shakib Al Hasan. The Bangladeshi all-rounder was banned by the ICC recently for failing to report approaches from bookies on numerous occasions.

Aminul Islam and Shafiul Islam picked up two wickets each for the Tigers.

Bangladesh did not make the best start to the match and lost the wicket of Liton Das (7) early.

Mushfiqur Rahim (60*), Mahmudullah (15*) ensured Bangladesh win the opening match of their tour against the mighty 2007 T20 World Champions.
