MS Dhoni becomes Team India mentor for T20 World Cup

Mumbai/IBNS: In a surprising move, the Indian cricket board has appointed former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the mentor of the national team for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

"Former India captain MS Dhoni to mentor the team for the T20 World Cup," said Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah.

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket last year, had created history by winning the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.

The BCCI has also announced the 15-member squad for the mega tournament, which will be played in the UAE and Oman from Oct 17 to Nov 14. 

Indian Team: Virat Kohli (Capt), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami.

Standby players: Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar.
