Bern, Oct 27 (IBNS): Swiss tennis player, Martina Hingis, will retire from tennis this week after the WTA finals.

Hingis, who earlier had a brief retirement, won five grand slams in singles so far.

She is the number one doubles player.

Her 13th grand slam in doubles came in the US Open 2017.

While announcing the retirement, the 37-year old tennis player, told media: "After a season like this, I think it's also perfect timing. You want to stop on top and not when you're already going backwards."

"I couldn't ask for a better finish" she added.
