The 51st All India Inter-School Invitation Rowing Championship, organised by the Lake Club, got off to a strong start on Sunday with participants from 43 schools across West Bengal and Jharkhand taking part in the regatta at the Kolkata complex.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghosh highlighted the significance of the event, which began in 1973 and has since served as a nurturing ground for budding rowers in the country.

He also announced that the Lake Club will install special facilities to measure the lung capacity of athletes, aimed at enhancing performance monitoring and training support for participants.

In the exhibition rowing events held on the opening day, Ballygunge Siksha Sadan edged past Patha Bhavan in the Junior Girls Double Scull category, while South Point High School secured a narrow victory over Khalsa High School in the Senior Boys Fours event after a closely contested race.
