Kolkata to host 'Srei Kolkata Marathon'
This being the eight year of the Marathon, Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited, India’s leading integrated infrastructure institution, has decided to support it.
The race categories include the Main Marathon (for Men) - 42.195 km, 15 Km (for Men and Women – prize money only for women) and the fun run of 5 km. For the first time since inception, the Srei Kolkata Marathon, 2015 will have timing chips available to the participants of the main Marathon and the 15 Km race.
The timing chips allow organisers to track runners from the second they cross the start line to the all-important finishing line and is recognized as globally accepted certified timing, thereby adding that added authenticity for the professional runners.
The Kolkata Marathon also has been acting as a platform to contribute to various social causes. The increased number of registered participants, the quality of the elite athletes participating, the winning timings and the rock solid commitment of the sponsors and partners to the event qualitatively adds on to the marathon experience each and every year.
The Srei Kolkata Marathon, 2015 offers a total prize purse of Rs 10 lacs, tagged as one of the highest prize money offered to Indian marathon runners.
The winner of the Main Marathon (for men) is to be awarded prize money of Rs. 320,000 and the winner of the Ladies Run receives prize money of Rs. 120,000.
