Kolkata: Tata Steel Marathon returns with a winning prize of USD 1,00,000
Kolkata/IBNS: After a gap of two years, the Tata Steel Marathon is back again and the seventh edition of this prestigious run will be held on Dec.18 next.
Beside the main 25 km (TSK25k) and 10 km races, the event with a total prize money of 100,000 US dollar would also include a 4.2 km fun run, 2.3 km senior citizen’s run and 2.3 km 'Champions with Disability' run for the specially abled persons.
To encourage women’s participation, a limited number of spots have been reserved in both 25 km and 10 km races.
Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President at Corporate Services of Tata Steel, the title sponsor of the event, said: “As the first run in its category to be certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races in India, TSK25k has grown to become one of the most important events in our country’s running calendar for all who are passionate about health and fitness.
"TSK25k holds a special significance as it is the biggest run of its kind in eastern India that welcomes professional and amateur runners from around the world.”
Commenting on the event, Joint Managing Director of Procam International Vivek Singh informed that the registration for all categories of run have already begun and will continue until Nov. 30 or till running places are filled, whichever is earlier.
Singh intimated that this event is supported by Youth services Department of West Bengal Government, Indian Army, Kolkata police and Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
Apart from Tata Steel, the title sponsor, IDFC First Bank has also chipped in this time as an Associate Sponsor of the event, Singh said.
