Dubai/IBNS: India's superstar batsman Virat Kohli slammed a mighty hundred and fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar clinched a fifer to thrash Afghanistan by 101 runs signing out from the Asia Cup 2022 on a high note here Thursday.

Chasing a giant target of 213, Afghanistan took no time to crumble facing Bhuvneshwar's spell where the right-handed bowler wiped out the opposition's top order within the powerplay overs.

With a spectacular bowling figure of 5/4 in four overs, Bhuveneshwar paved the way for India to a record win after the men-in-blue's journey to the Asia Cup final was halted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Though India looked to wrap up the match in a hurry, Ibrahim Zadran resisted it with his 59-ball 64 which was, however, too little to defeat the blue brigade.

Unable to bundle out the Opposition, India restricted Afghanistan to 111/8 in 20 overs.

Virat Kohli's ton helps India to score mammoth total

Silencing his critics, Kohli slammed a fiery, unbeaten century to power India to post 212/2 in 20 overs Thursday.

Extending his good Asia Cup touch post return from hiatus, Kohli remained unbeaten at 122, his highest T20I score, off just 61 balls leaving the opponent stunned with the display of sheer classy batting.

Kohli hit 12 fours and six half-a-dozen shots with some of them being quite unusual coming from the former Indian skipper.

Kohli was aptly supported by captain KL Rahul, who scored 62 before getting out, and the duo contributed 119 runs for the first wicket.

After Afghanistan were defeated by Pakistan Wednesday night in a thriller, India had exhausted all their chances to advance to the final, where Sri Lanka will take on Babar Azam's team Sunday.
