KL Rahul smashes 199, India score 391-4

Chennai, Dec 18 (IBNS): Riding on opener KL Rahul's brilliant 199 runs knock, India gave a strng reply to England's first innings total of 477 runs as the home side posted 391 runs for the loss of four wickets at the end of the third day's play here on Sunday.

The opener helped India post 391 runs on the scorecard, making the homeside trail the opposition side's first innings score by 86 runs.

Rahul won hearts with his brilliant knock.

He smashed 16 boundaries and three sixes in his 311 -ball knock.

However, his aim of scoring 200 was destroyed as he  lobbed  Adil Rashid to point, returning to the pavilion at 199.

He joined Parthiv Patel (71) in scoring 152  runs partnership.

Rahul also joined in a 161 runs stand with Karun Nair (71*).

Nair and Murali Vijay (17*) remained unbeaten at the end of the day.

India have already won the series 3-0.
