It can be anybody's game on a given day in this IPL 2016: Sambaran

| | Apr 25, 2016, at 06:50 pm
Kolkata, Apr 25 (IBNS) Former first class cricket and skipper of the victorious Bengal Ranji side of 1989-90, Sambaran Banerjee said that the current season of IPL can belong to any team who turns up on the particular day.

"I think there are lots of balanced teams in this season of IPL 2016. From Gujarat Lions, to Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants, to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. It's very difficult to predict who will clinch at last," the veteran crickter and coach told IBNS here.

He was speaking on the sidelines of  'Baisakhi adda' a fun-filled evening by Active Acres, Ruchi Realty here.

"It depends on how you perform under certain situations on a day and the dice is equally poised for the contenders," Sambaran, who was a CAB selector, said.

Sambaran, however, regretted KKR did not boast off local talents and "hence I am not partial towards KKR now the way I used to be earlier."

Asked about the candidature of cricket administrator Jagmohan Dalmiya's daughter Baishali Dalmiya from Bally assembly constituency in Howrah district, he said: "She has been a long time friend. Mr Dalmiya had been a long time friend."

"She is sincere and I hope such people should come to politics. The educated and cultured youth should more join the system to cleanse the same."

On Bengali's love for sport, Sambaran said "even during election heat, Bengalis will take time off to enjoy IPL and the game of football."
