IPL 2019: CSK beat RCB by 7 wickets in opening match

Chennai, Mar 23 (IBNS): Mahendra Singh Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) began their campaign in the 12th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) on a winning note as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by seven wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Saturday.

Chasing a low target of 71, CSK, however, had to toil as they took 17.3 overs to score the required runs.

Ambati Rayudu was the top scorer for the men-in-yellow. He scored 28 off 42 balls.

Earlier RCB got bowled out for 70 in 17.1 overs.

Parthiv Patel was the only batsman to have a double digit score beside his name. He scored 29 off 35 balls.

Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers scored nine runs each. Skipper Kohli was dismissed by veteran spin bowler Harbhajan Singh at six.

Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir picked three wickets each for the visitors. Ravindra Jadeja picked two and Dwayne Bravo clinched one wicket.
