Indian women team beat New Zealand by 34 runs in World T20 clash

Providence, Nov 10 (IBNS):  Indian women team defeated New Zealand by 34 runs in their opening World T20 match here on Friday.

After India posted 194 runs for the loss of five wickets, the bowlers of the Asia side also continued the momentum and restricted the opponents at 160 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur smashed 103 runs in his 51-ball knock.

He hit seven boundaries and eight sixes in her memorable innings.

Rodrigues added 59 runs with her willow.

Tahuhu added two wickets for Kiwis.

Kaur was in her best form in the match and kept hitting the New Zealand batsmen outside the park.

In return, New Zealand were restricted at 160 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Suzie Bates remained the top scorer for the Kiwis with her 67runs knock.

Hemalatha and Yadav picked up three wickets each for India.
