London: Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri has returned a positive COVID-19 lateral flow test, and will be kept under isolation along with three other members of the coaching staff, the BCCI said on Sunday.

The other members who will be kept under isolation along with Shastri were bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar, and physiotherapist Nitin Patel as a precautionary measure.

"The BCCI Medical Team has isolated Mr Ravi Shastri, Head Coach, Mr B. Arun, Bowling Coach, Mr R. Sridhar, Fielding Coach and Mr Nitin Patel, Physiotherapist as a precautionary measure after Mr Shastri’s lateral flow test returned positive last evening,' the BCCI said in a statement.

"They have undergone RT-PCR testing and shall remain in the team hotel and not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team,' it added.

Meanwhile, the rest of India's team members were allowed to go to the ground on the fourth day of the ongoing Test against England at The Oval after they returned negative on two lateral flow tests.

"The remaining members of the Team India contingent underwent two Lateral Flow Tests – one last night and another this morning. The members upon returning negative COVID reports were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval,' the statement further said.

Ravi Shastri is currently busy coaching the team that is playing Test series against England in Britain.
