India win by an innings and 36 runs, take series 3-0

By virtue of the win, India have also won the five-match series 3-0 with a match left to be played at Chennai.

Needing 232 runs to take a lead, England were bowled out for 195 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin emulated his first innings feat, picking up another six wickets to end the match with 12 wickets, thereby, recording the best figure by an off-spinner at the Wankhede Stadium.

The ICC world number one all-rounder was ably supported by Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up two wickets.

Jayant Yadav, who scored his maiden Test century, followed it up with a singular scalp.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave India the breakthrough earlier on day four, as the visitors lost opener Jennings for nought in the very first over.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, England put up a mammoth 400 runs, only for India to better it and take a 231 runs lead.

England's cause was helped by debutant Jennings, who scored 112, while India were fuelled by Murali Vijay (136), Virat Kohli (235) and Jayant Yadav (104).   

For India, Ravichandran Ashwin recorded figures of six wickets, followed closely by Jadeja, who picked up four in the first innings.
