India registered a six-run win over mighty Australia in the warm-up match of the T20 World Cup at The Gabba in Brisbane Monday.

Defending 187, India bowled out the Aussies for 180 in 20 overs.

Australia captain Aaron Finch was almost the lone warrior battling out with the Indian bowlers before getting dismissed for 76 off 54 balls. He slammed seven fours and three sixes.

Mohammed Shami picked three wickets conceding four runs in one over for India.

Riding on fifties by KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma-led Team India scored 186/7 in 20 overs.

After being sent for first batting by Finch, India couldn't have asked for a better start as they went off to a flier courtesy Rahul's 57 off 33 balls.

Rahul touched the half-century mark in just 27 balls.

After dull performances by India captain Rohit Sharma, star batsman Virat Kohli, in-form Suryakumar steered the innings to over 180 with his 33-ball 50.

Kane Richardson was the most successful bowler for Australia. He scalped four wickets for 30 runs in his quota of four overs.
