Bengaluru/IBNS: India began the three-match Test series against New Zealand on an embarrassing note by getting bowled out for just 46 in the inaugural innings of the first match here on Thursday.

India suffered the batting collapse on day 2 after the first day was washed out due to rains.

Only two batters- Rishabh Pant (20) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (13)- touched the double digit score.

Five batters including veteran Virat Kohli were dismissed for ducks.

New Zealand needed only three bowlers to wrap up the star-studded Indian batting order.

Matt Henry dominated with the ball picking 5 wickets for just 15 runs while William ORourke scalped 4 for 22. Tim Southee is credited for the other wicket.
