Important to win titles, more important to have a heart: Gautam Gambhir slams BCCI after Rayudu retires
New Delhi, July 3 (IBNS): Former India cricketer and Delhi (East) MP Gautam Gambhir has slammed the BCCI for apparently being unable to give fair chance to talented players such as Ambati Rayudu, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after not being picked as part of the World Cup squad.
"What surprises me most is that the entire @BCCI current selection panel had an unfulfilled career themselves!!!Even then they could not give a fair run to talent like @RayuduAmbati. What a shame!!! While it’s important to win titles, guess it’s more important to have a heart," tweeted Gambhir.

Rayudu had made his first-class debut in the 2001-02 season for Hyderabad in a Ranji Trophy pre-quarterfinal match against Himachal Pradesh. He later went on to play 55 ODIs and six T20Is for India.
“I have come to the decision to step away from the sport and retire from all forms and levels of the game,” Rayudu informed the board. “It has been a wonderful journey of playing the sport and learning from every up and down it brought upon for the last 25 years at various different levels.”
He thanked BCCI, the captains he has played under and various state associations that he represented during his long career.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the BCCI and all the state associations that I have represented which include Hyderabad, Baroda, Andhra and Vidarbha. I also would like to thank the two IPL franchises Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings for their support," he said.
BCCI congratulated Rayudu on a successful journey and for his contribution to Indian cricket.
