Ex-Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq fumes at India for losing England match but lauds 'musalman' Mohammed Shami

Lahore, July 2 (IBNS): India may have lost their match against England in the World Cup last Sunday, but Pakistan cricketers are the ones who seem to be more worried. The only reason perhaps is India's defeat further marginalised Pakistan's chance in reaching the semis.

In a latest instance, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq criticised India's intent against England but hailed pace bowler Mohammed Shami, who had picked five wickets, referring to him as "musalman (Muslim)".

"Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are the wicket-taking bowlers but they didn't pick wickets. Mohammed Shami did his job. Moreover Shami is musalman which is a good thing.....England scored 337 so easily," Razzaq told the channel.

Former Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis has also slammed the Indian team for their lack of "sportsmanship".

"It's not who you are.. What you do in life defines who you are.. Me not bothered if Pakistan gets to the semis or not but one thing is for sure.. Sportsmanship of few Champions got tested and they failed badly" Younis said in a tweet.

Earlier former Pakistan cricketers Basit Ali and Sikander Bakht had alleged that India might voluntarily lose the match against England to deny Pakistan a chance to reach the semis.

Chasing a huge total of 338, India scored 306/5. Though Rohit Sharma slammed a century, Virat Kohli scored 66 and Hardik Pandya played a blistering knock, poor run rate in the first and last ten overs went out to be crucial for India, which had sported an orange jersey on Sunday.

After India's loss to England, the road ahead of Pakistan as well as Bangladesh in the tournament became tougher. Sri Lanka, the other Asian country, were already out of the competition after a poor performance in the World Cup 2019.
