Disappointed with the two no-balls: Dhoni
Defending the target, India's Ravi Ashwin and Hardik Pandya, both got Lendl Simmons caught, only on a no-ball, thus enabling the batsman to retain strike, as he remained unbeaten and went on to win the game for his side.
Speaking about this particular incident, Dhoni said, "Other than the two no-balls I'm not very disappointed with the bowlers. There wasn't much on offer."
The Indian skipper agreed that dew played a big factor in their loss.
He said, "I knew it was a bad toss to lose. The dew starts setting in during the second innings. Our first few overs weren't bad but then spinners came in and they didn't have much on offer."
When asked about the target, West Indies captain Darren Sammy said that he felt India were 10 runs short.
"I told my team they are 10 runs short," he said.
He also lauded Simmons and Russell for finishing off the game for them.
"Even when we lost Gayle, the way Simmons and Charles played and Russell put the finishing touches, I'm very proud," he said.
A smiling Sammy then went on to add the value of their win to their countrymen back home.
"We were inspired by the ladies earlier today. Now we have 2 West Indian teams in the semi-final. It means a lot for the people in the Caribbean islands," Sammy said.
